Because of Cuba’s reputation for sticking with tradition, it has a way of grabbing attention when expanding outside the norm. Montecristo’s Open series, for example, introduced two sizes (among their four vitolas) that had never been produced in that country. One was the Regata, a rather slender Torpedo that measures at 5⅜” x 46. Like the other cigars in the Open series, it offers more bite than Montecristo devotees may be used to, with some woody and peppery notes quite prominent during its 45-minute runtime.
